Jones an alumni of George Rogers Clark High School, where he was 3 sport athlete earning the honors of 1st Team All-State Football, 1st Team All-District Football, 1st Team All-District Basketball and 2nd Team All Region in Basketball. Jones was also crowned Kentucky State Shot Put Champion in track. Jones majored in Interdisciplinary Studies at Western Kentucky where he played Tight End for the Hilltoppers. Jones went on to further his education earning a Kinesiology and Health Promotion Degree from the University of Kentucky and a Masters Degree in Physical Education at the University of the Cumberlands.

Jones is a native of Flemingsburg, Kentucky but currently resides in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife Jessica and three children, Tate, Jasai, and Luna.
